Delegation from Armenia in the Geneva UN Charter Centre in Estonia, 10.12.17 – 16.12.17

EKYL was happy to welcome a delegation from Armenia for the study tour from 10.12.17 to 16.12.17 on legislative and energy efficient retrofitting aspects of the multi-apartment buildings management sector in Estonia. The delegation with 10 members consisted of state officials from the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, and the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development of the Republic of Armenia; the State Urban Development Committee adjunct to Government of the Republic of Armenia and officials from Yerevan Municipality. The visit was supported by the United Nations Development Programme.

The program prepared for the delegation by EKYL included lectures on the housing reforms and developments, legal aspects on cooperative housing in Estonia and strandards for real estate management and maintenance. Visits were organized to the Ministry of Justice of Estonia, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications of Estonia, e-showroom of the Enterprise Estonia, Swedbank, Tallinn City Government, Rakvere City Council and Tallinn University of Technology. The delegation also visited retrofittied multi-apartment buildings managed by apartment associations in Tallinn and Rakvere.

The Geneva UN Charter Centre in Estonia was established in 2016 in Estonia in cooperation with the Estonian Union of Co-operative Housing Associations (EKYL). EKYL specializes in the development and organisation of training programs on housing management for local housing management associations in Estonia and in countries with economies-in-transition. EKYL participates also in the work of Housing Europe ad-hoc working group on housing systems in transition, with Andres Jaadla, Chairman of the board of EKYL, as head of the working group. The Working Group brings together Members and Partners mainly from Eastern and Southern Europe that need more support on developing housing policies.
